I am thinking of starting another build. This one will be a c8 clone. Is it possible to buy diemaco or colt Canada marked lowers?.

There rifle is nothing special and nor is their lowers either, if anything I prefer most of there competition, there barrel blanks are good because of their steel they use from France. That company does not even compare to HK or say KAC.

Yes. Sort of.

They did a series of guns for Colt Defence. They won't be marked as "colt canada" or "diemaco" but will be marked as Colt Defence guns with the typical colt markings, except they will have "made in canada" stamped on the side.

It is a colt canada/diemaco product, just doesn't say it.

You'll have to find one most likely in the US and import it. AR15a2 and AR15a3 series.

Here's a pic of my Dlask lower that I bought from another member. The font/engraving is not 100% true and the opposite side has Dlask info on it. It was as close as I could find with the least obtrusive mnfr markings, so I am happy with it.

i read an article on the colt/diemaco rifles in an american magazine (can't remember which). as far as the author was concerned they were the best made M16 out there. not the first
one he shot. he also stated they cannot import these rifles to the US. i assume that is because they are full automatic and imports not allowed. he also stated even police and military
can't get them. all full autos no matter who wants them must be US made.

recce that dlask receiver would meet my needs just fine. Thanks for posting pictures. I will send dlask an e-mail when I am ready to go ahead.

This is pure BS.

The fanboy posts are one thing, but the OP asked if he could get them, not what manufacturer you think is better. This is what the other thread is about with people taking any opportunity to hijack threads for their own hater or fan boy agendas and why the signal to noise ratio is so high around here.

Just so we can get an idea where this comes from - nothing on a C7 or C8 comes from France. The product is made in Canada and more than compares to HK - it beats them all then time in weapons trials and is carried by SF units all over the world.

For all of the brilliant work that HK did over the years, the 416 is a train wreck. It's just another poorly thought out copy of a Colt. Super high rail. For-end is removable and doesn't hold zero - like a real one piece upper. The gas port is oversized and there is no opening resistance in the bolt so the aluminum receivers eat themselves quickly. It's common to find them full of aluminum shavings. That's why SF units are ditching the 416 and the G28 had to switch to a steel boat anchor upper.

They are not all full auto. The c8a2 is a semi auto only receiver. No milling for a full auto sear. Several US police agencies have colt ar15a2 and ar15a3 guns that were made in Canada by diemaco/colt canada but are stamped "made in Canada" with US colt defence markings.

This is also just not true. The C8A2 is available with both automatic and semi automatic versions. C8A2 designates a configuration with 14.5 inch heavy bbl, carbine chamber, flat top upper and adjustable butt-stock.

Correct. I was just trying to highlight that it was available in semi auto only as a c8a2, and that in the semi, no fa sear will fit. Not that all c8a2 were semi only, there are fa of it as well.

Roger. But once again we are off topic.

As of now, Colt Canada can't sell anything commercially. I've heard all kinds of rumours but nothing solid yet.

Not sure how Dlask can sell copies of trademark logos and CF logos without permission though.

They make so few of them they just slip along, not worth the hassle of stopping it.

Repost from another thread.

Good Afternoon,

Thank you for your email.

Colt Canada is reviewing the possibility of offering the C7 for sale to commercial markets. We are currently working with licensing and regulatory authorities in order to assess when this can be accomplished as well as reviewing the specific products which we are looking to offer. Colt Canada is expecting to make an announcement in this regard during the first part of the 2014 calendar year.
