Is it possible to shoot a Type-97 (aka QBZ-95/97) using right hand but left eye?

Unfortunately, my right eye (I mean, from my side) is a "lazy eye", or should I say, a very weak one. :yingyang:

No glasses can fix my right eye, my parents had already tried everything during my childhood.

I am very willing to buy a Type-97. And I don't mind becoming a lefty if Type-97 allows the trigger to be pulled by left hand, however this assault rifle only comes with right-hand model. So it now seems the only option is that... I use regular right hand hold but I use my left eye to aim.

Just so you know... I got a regular size head (or face, to be more precise, the cheek). So whoever having this rifle, could you please do me a huge favour? Can you try use your left eye to aim and let me know if it is doable?

BTW, my brother's left eye is the lazy eye... and he has no interest in any firearms. What an unfair world. :D
 
In before they move this to Red Rifles forum :). To answer your question, nope not possible brother, you could have someone make a custom offset picatinny. But, you can fire the type 97 left handed, check the threads in the red rifle section there is a video of NEMO doing it, also Dekard claims that he will make a kydex face shield as he is a lefty. What happens if you use a red dot and have both eyes open? For most people a red dot will superimpose on the image they are looking at, even if your left eye is dominant, that might work...I don't know....

I just spent 2 hours in reading the looooong thread started by you :) in Red Rifles forum... It's very informative.

Let's say no 3rd party sight or scope added, so you don't think I can just use my right hand but bend over my head a bit more to use my left eye eh? :( The reason is... I'm not really a lefty, just my eyes... so...... I know I'm the troublemaker...

I just cannot resist this deal.

You know how some have said that if you put a Pic. Rail on the existing one and use optics it puts the optic very high, well good news buddy I put the Chinese scope on my carbine after reading you'r question and the scope raises it high enough I put my right cheek weld on the stock but canted my head so I could use the reticle with my left eye and it works to the point its doable. Does this help you out? Hope so! I also tried out the optics using my left eye and with my right eye open as well this seemed to not make me strain as bad.

I've just placed an order. $891.45 in total for a non-restricted Type-97, can't expect better.

From now on I'll have to wait till December. I've never been so eager to see a Canadian winter. :D
