Is it possible to thread a cylinder bore to take screw-in chokes?

The barrel would have to be carefully measured to see if there is a make of choke that it could be machined for. There are minimum and maximum inside and outside diameters required.
Many barrel can not be adapted to screw in chokes.
It isn't worthwhile in my opinion.

as guntech says, it depends on the thickness of the muzzle ( actualy outside diameter)
but in the case there is not enough metal to ream and tap, you can get a bushing that solder to the barrel ans uses winchester choke from brownells

for borderline cases, I believe there are double threaded taps and choke tubes but it would be expensive. Double threading means that instead of a single deep spiral V there are two parallel Vs cut to 1/2 the depth of the single thread

I had an Ithaca barrel shortened and fitted with chokes a while back. I had to use Colonial thin-wall chokes, and got a strict admonishion, no steel shot. Cost was about $100 plus the cost of the chokes.
I had a Ithaca XL900 shortened and threaded for chokes years ago. It was for my son to shoot sporting clays with. Sent it to Briley's in the States. Forgot what the cost was but the chokes are quite long and really thin and threaded the full length of them. Works great. Awesome set up for a younger, smaller shooter. Might be coming up for sale someday soon.
