Hello all,

I am new to hunting.
Recently my friend and me went for hunting in Quebec to the Wentworth Area close to Lac Gustave (in between Montfort, Wentworth and Wentworth Nord). When we approach there we were thinking to ask some landowner permission to hunt but we found some interesting area where there were no signs such as: Private Property, Hunting Prohibited or similar. More than that, everywhere on the trees there were many signs which states: Hunting Area, Be careful, and some other info about what to hunt and using which type of arms. We hunt there for two days in a row and liked it very much.

Now my question is: Was it kind of Public land especcially for hunting, or just the land belongs to some hunting club/association ? However we did not find any info about hunting club name or something. There were some chalets around, but not in this area. Also this area was only about 4-5 km long. The areas around were full of signs: PRIVATE LAND. What do you think guys ?
If my statement about Public Land for Hunting is true than have you ever see something similar in Quebec for example. Just interesting to know if there are any other places like this closer to Montreal :)

Thank you,
Vlad

I’m not sure what they would be called in Quebec, but County or Municipality maps show who owns the land. They are really valuable for hunters seeking permission to hunt.
