Is it redundant to put a Burris FF3 on top of Elcan Spectre DR 1-4?

I noticed a mount can be purchased for the Elcan Spectre. Isn't the 1x the same as a red dot sight?

Is it redundant to put a Burris FF3 on top of Elcan Spectre DR 1-4? I have the Burris and wonder if I should spend the extra 80 bucks for the Elcan mount adapter.
 
You could still make the case for a piggy back red-dot on a 1-4x, but in most cases I'd agree that it's overkill.

Example?

You shoot open class 3-Gun with a rifle that has higher than normal height over bore. You zero your Spectre way out there somewhere so that you're ringing gongs at 500 yards. But some stages have teeny tiny ten yard targets. Suddenly an additional optic that's zeroed for super close stuff has value.

I'd choose an offset red dot over a piggy-back solution. But hey, it doesn't hurt to have the option.

Well I just send 2k to a guy on ER for the 1-4x so that's not comforting since I also have a Burris FF3 I could have put on the 4ox.

Did I make the wrong decision? Will I regret the 1-4?

I sold all my pistols, ammo, and accessories fire sale at a big loss to get this 1-4!
 
Spectre DR already has iron sights on top, no need for another RDS.

The body for Spectre DR & OS4 are the same but the space for the mount is really for the OS4 as mentioned by poster above.
 
Trust me you will not regret your purchase, you will love your DR1-4! As far as I'm concerned it's as good as it gets for 3 gun.

I doubt you'll regret it, the DR's are solid scopes and well worth the money. Putting the red dot on it is overkill, so put it on something else, or sell it and use the funds to purchase a new pistol.
