is it weird to have ammo for a firearm you dont have?

No, for a simple reason: the Canadian market. I buy in anticipation when deal are there. I even have STANAG magazines, but haven't found the right NR rifle to fit them in. Beside that, I know I want a Mosin, so it justify the x54r, CanAm is now sold out for these. As for x39, I buy the stuff when it's available. I know it literally *disappear*, especially the non-corrosive stuff.

I bought a .300 win mag years ago. Didn't really care for it so I sold it. When I cleaned out the corners I found that I had about 340 rounds of .300 and no rifle to shoot it. Obviously I had planned to do a little bit of shooting with it. Kept it around for about 2 years, then the wife's cousin bought a .300, so I traded it off to him. Nothing wrong with having ammo for a gun you don't own.

I've got a couple box's of .22maggie and some .308's lying around..........speaking of which I should get around to buying the m-14 to go with them.

Haaaaaaaay, I can do this too.
Got all the makings for a cute blonde Swede.
And she should be here pretty soon............birthday present
for me within a couple hours.
HBDTM, HBDTM, soooooooon

i have ammo, brass dies and bullets for guns i don't own YET. i'm sure i will use it one day. the most is 15 boxes of buck shot and i don't own a shotgun.

Nope not weird. Could be planning to get the gun or could have sold the gun and still have the ammo. No different than having goose ammo and being a deer hunter. Or like having old scopes that you upgrade from or sold the gun and kept the scope or bought the scope and not mounted it yet.
