I have a Remington 700 XCR TLR in .308win. It's a decent rifle but nothing to call home about. I have managed to get some decent groups out of it over the past 2 years but I have always had that voice in the back of my head telling me that I should have got the TRG-22.
My question to you guys is, Is the Sako TRG-22 worth the coin?

I have been thinking of cleaning out the safe a little and I was contemplating replacing the 700 with the TRG-22.

Let me know your thoughts on the matter.

Best Regards,
Tim

Tim,
You wouldn't regret the purchase of the TRG...fabulous gun in all respects.
However, you could probably make your current 700 into a shooter...trigger, bedding, barrel, etc., for a fraction of the cost of the Sako.
The only issue can be that the turn around time from some of the better 'smiths can be more than a little daunting...they are all busy...for good reason!

You can turn a Honda into a car that can easily keep up with a Porsche for a fraction of the cost.

BUT, it will never be a Porsche.

Are TRG's tack drivers like a true match rifle, NO. Are they superb tactical rifles that can also shoot pretty darn well, YES.

A reworked and rebarreled Rem will be mechanically more accurate then a TRG but once you put all the accessories and needed parts onto it, you are not that much less money then the TRG.

So decide what accuracy you want and how you plan on using it.

I know several people already shooting Sako TRG for year, and the group I see when these shooter do there part is Amazing, 1/4" one hold at 100meter, also long range out to 700-800meter with 308 is very amazing, 6" gong out to 700meter, hitting consistantly, one fellow I saw cut his sako TRG 22 down to 20" and able to continues having super Accuracy group, In my opinion they are much better than rifles that come off the shell from Factory, You should considering going to Other Forum and check out result of the Sako TRG22, forum like snipershide or Ar15 to get more info, also there is many thread on this forum about the gun, using you search and get the info for yourself is way better than let other influence you on you expensive buy, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

TRG-22 is $3200 from TSE.

The two end up being around the same price, if you went for the AICS, so it's up to you. You already have the TLR, though...

Rebarrel: Krieger 30 cal stainless $440 + plumbing $250 Action true - $200

Hell, throw an AICS inot the mix $1300

Sako TRG

$3699

Yes. Do your own research.

TRG22 black&Blue finish only $2950 at P&D, even shooting edge will give a deal of less than $3000 for blue finish and $3200 for green with steal finish(Phosphorus) .

I think I may just go the route of having the 700 worked on. I'm not in any perticular rush for the rifle as I have a lot on my plate this year. I want something with great accuracy yet won't cost me an arm and a leg. Bein that I already have the base for a good rifle I may a well build off that. I would love to have a 1/4 moa rifle in my safe.

Thanks for the comments guys. It's appreciated as always.
