As the title says, I want to get into 3 gun (would actually just prefer 2 gun as I never really was that interested in shotguns) and I don't want to buy a new shotgun just for that. I've had a Maverick Arms Inc. Model 88 (30 inch, fixed full choke, 12 gauge, 5+1, 2 3/4 & 3 inch, synthetic stock) for many years. All this time I thought it was a Winchester but find that it is a division of Mossberg and essentially a cheaper version of the Model 500, so Model 500 parts should fit. Anyway, this piece of **** shoots so low that I've had to put a 1/4 inch thick strip of rubber across the back of the receiver and I still have to lift it a bit after putting the front bead on a turkeys head to get a center hit. Because it shoots so low, I'm thinking of a reflex/holographic sight would be in order and a magazine extension might be needed too to get full round count compared to others. I may need to cut off the choke tip and go with cylinder too.

I'm not concerned about serious "competition" per se, just want to go out and have a blast. I haven't started to research parts costs or whats available yet. Opinions?

Not everyone has an unlimited budget when it comes to building projects for 3 gun.

At the heart of three gunning, is the fun and camaraderie shared by fellow shooters.

I say go for it.

Just watch your budget, it can easily get out of control and if you tally up your mods before hand, you may find yourself wanting/able to purchase something else :)
