Is job loss enough for refusal of RPAL?

I did a search and I couldn't find any posts that specifically addressed my issue. I lost my job last year and I'm still out of work right now so my main concern is that enough for the for the CFC to refuse my application?

I don't have a history of violence or depression and my relationship with my former employers is good enough that I'm using them as references while I job hunt. I'm writing the details right now and I'll be entirely honest but I'm trying to word them in a way that puts the situation in a positive light. My references are my parents so I'm assuming the RCMP will call them up.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

I believe that it asks about a "significant" job loss....

You can decide whether your job was significant or not, and figure out how that affects paperwork...

Don't hesitate to apply.

If you answer YES to any of the questions in this section, you MUST provide details on a separate page. Add your name at the top of each page you attach.
If details are not provided, your application cannot be processed. A YES answer does not mean your application will be refused but it may lead to further examination.

That's what it says, and that's what it means. The CFP will check your references. You'll have no problem.

I was layed off when i got my rpal, i dont even remember a question about jobs?

Its certainly on the renewal form; "Personal Information, section C, sub-question d) . If you have to answer yes to the question, you are supposed to include an additional page with an explanation.

its simply part of the "background check" process.

Considering that you may get approved for a PAL even if you have a criminal record for a non-violent crime, i doubt that job loss alone would prevent you from obtaining it.

Its just like the "did you suffer from depression in the last 2 years" question. If you answer yes, they'll simply have to ask more questions to determine if you're a potential danger to yourself or others. If you show that you're a balanced human being that is able to deal with such a situation and that you're not a trigger-happy bipolar individual, then i don't see on what basis they could deny your license.

I filled out a renewal a while back, and mentioned that I had been laid off, but forgot to include more details.
I got a letter asking for more info. I told them that getting laid off is common in the steel trade. I sent a photocopy of my welding logbook showing several job changes in the recent past, and also showing that I was now working. No further problem.

I used my parents as references myself. They did not seem to happy about it and asked why I used my parents and if they could have another reference. I told them I used my parents because they were in the room while I was filling out my application.

I am also currently unemployed and the question about your work status did come up.
However, I did not end that job on a happy note because I was not being given the proper safety equipment. Which I did not hide when they asked me.

Overall, it took a little longer but I still got it. Make sure to call and talk to them. You can really speed things up.

"Our service standards to process a complete and accurate application are 45 days, including the 28-day legislated waiting period, for a license application, and 30 days for a registration application.

If you have not received information concerning your application within those time frames, please call 1-800-731-4000 and one of our client representatives will check the reason for the delay."

They work on a first come first served basis. If you call, they will bring up your file on their computer and as long as you are nice and polite they have the ability to speed things up, (they have the ability all the time you just might not get it if you are disrespectful or nasty to them.)

my story

the idea behind it is, the former employee is now a physco crazed killer that is applying to get his restricted to OFF himself cause he/she cannot handle the stress of losing their job. (RIDICULOUS), or possibly off his/her boss too,

THE END

Why could an unemployed citizen be refused a licence? Is this actually a rule?

You have to think like a liberal pussy.

They'd say job loss would increase the chance that you would rob a bank, and they obviously don't want to give a license to someone who is going to rob a bank.

You see, liberals like to play the what if game, and they use it to justify any actions as a public safety concern

Depends, did you lose your job for threatening your bosses life or or other employees?

If not, I wouldn't worry about applying. :D

I filled out the same form several years ago and never heard a peep from them.

Reason for job loss: Retirement, Sold company, Age 41 :)

Thanks all for the replies, it certainly puts my mind at ease.

I lost the job simply because the company I was working for had a budget shortfall so they needed to let people go, it was very amicable and civil. I wouldn't call it a significant job, I was an office assistant job I was doing while going through University and definitely not a career.

From my experience (entered yes as well as yes to a history of "mental illness"). Following a doctor's note stating I wasn't homi/suicidal, I had no problem getting my RPal (got my card last week!!!).
They just want to make sure you're mentally stable.

That is only with firearms.

When the question is about terms of incarceration, parole, probation, and pardons...NOT SO MUCH.
