Is May 8th too early for squirrels

Richardson ground squirrels in south west Alberta.

That's when I'll be in town. Don't want to be so early that the pups won't be born/able to survive.

Want to leave some for the rest of you

Not to mention that I want to have lots for myself.

Should be a good date. I've had good shoots while the spring snow flurries were still going on. April-May-June are all usually good months.

Thats perfect time for shooting, grass is not to long to hide them and the days are long.

The only thing is that if you only have a few days you could get skunked by spring rains. Hopefully you have the time to wait out the rain if need be.

I'll keep the rain in mind. Good excuse to stick around AB.

Could always go north for a few days sight seeing etc. and then go back to the hunt, if need be.
