Is my new red dot damaged? or am I?

Bought a red dot from CT yesterday (tapco 1x30) 11 settings for light.
I find when my eye is close to the thing, the red dot is single with a little blur around it (not too bad), when in firing position (mounted it on the hand guard of my sks) I see three dots (little blur too)almost overlapping, but they are side by side by side with the center one slightly brighter.

I wear glasses so that might be it, or,
looks to be around right size for my usage anyways (says 5moa) and just a plinking tool to tighten up groups, which are only 4-5" now anyways @ 100 with the irons.

First red dot, is it screwed up or am I.

I have the same red dot. what I noticed is that you have to focus your eyes far off in the distance at your target. if you try to focus on the dot itself, it gets pretty blurry. I find that the dot gets nice and sharp when i keep both eyes open and focus on the target.

Red-dot sights seem to amplify problems in your eyeball.

An astigmatism will be MUCH more apparent with a red-dot sight, than with a magnified scope (or with a 1-4x say)

Now the cheaper Tasco's dont have as clear or crisp a dot as my Aimpoints do (Judging my BKRD42 to my Aimpoint Micro T1), so it could be somewhat to do with the sight.

As Gibbs said, FOCUS ON THE TARGET. Even my Micro's dot goes all wonky when I try to focus on it (since its pretty much impossible for your eye to focus on a little dot with no distance to judge it from). Keep both your eyes open and focus on the target and you may get better results :D

The best way to tell is to rotate the sight while looking through it. If the blemish rotates, it is the scope. If the blemish does not rotate, it's your eyes.

I sometimes notice fuzzy red dots when I'm at home looking through a red dot but outside when shooting it never seems to be a problem.
