I bought this gun a while ago on Ellwood Epps, its a cool old gun, unfortunately sporterized, but whatever. I bought it because it was advertised as Danish Remington Rolling block in 8x56R, but after falling down the rabbit hole of trying to figure out how many Danish rolling blocks were made, I stumbled upon a picture of a French Rolling block, and I fear there may be more similarities between a French Rolling Block and mine than there is between a Danish and mine.

The biggest features I find alarming are the hex shaped section on the barrel which appears to be present on some of the French ones but not Danish (hard to say for sure because many pictures have a top hand guard) Location of rear sights more in line with the french, the hand grove seems non-existent in Danish Rifles and occasionally appear in French rifles, the metal tag on the butt seems present in some of both, but seems more similar to the French, and the stamp over the date seems very similar to that of a French gun.

I was unable to determine calibre before I left for college, but I can say that a 7.62x54r brass fits, I've been told this is possible for guns chambered in 8x56R, but I haven't been able to find if this is possible in guns chambered in 8mm lebel.

Attached should be two photos of my gun, if you are familiar with rolling blocks more than me, please let me know what you think.

If you think someone on a different forum, like the black powder and antique forum, would be a better help, let me know and I'll post it there.

I'm reloading mine with fireformed 8x56R brass, it works pretty well but every once and a while the rim slips past the ejector and it's a bit of a pain to remove.

Here's a Cabin Fever Challenge run from last year:

I was planning to do a youtube series on making the brass, but you know, "Youtube" and their stupid rules.
