Is my Ruger 22/45 ruined?

After returning from the range yesterday, I noticed this damage while preparing to clean the gun. There seems to be a chunk of metal chipped away from the mouth of the chamber in the area the extractor operates. That area has always been very thin, but not being the original owner, I'm not sure what it looked like when new. I have put about 800 rounds through the gun and operation has been flawless, no malfunctions of any kind. Now with obvious damage at the chamber mouth, I'm a it worried the gun may be toast. Has anyone else seen this in their 22/45's or MK III's? :(

Ruined? No. I would suggest you contact Ruger, and see what they have to say. You may be in the market for a new barrel. If you're lucky, Ruger may warranty it, but expect to be without it for a while!
 
Big relief! I had also posted this on the Ruger forum and, from responses there, this is quite common. The recommendation is to carefully smooth the jagged edge with a needle file, to prevent any feeding problems or extractor damage, and then just keep on shooting it. :)
 
it's common on Ruger semi-auto .22's in general, I've had a few 10/22's with the same thing. Not good, but whatever. :S
