Is S&B 5.6x52R (22HP) .228 or .224 Bullet ?

Just wondering if the S&B 5.6x52R ammo which they say is Savage 22HP has a .228 dia bullet or .224 dia bullet ?.I've been told is .224 so accuracy isn't very good as the bullet is .004 smaller.Is this true or false ?.

The .22 Savage Hi-Power is .228 (or .227 sometimes). Go to Wikipedia and look for .22 Savage Hi-Power. They have a good write up.

Real 22HP is .228
Some folks get by with .227
Some folks claim that .224 are accurate

I have a box of S&B here someplace 88...if you still need an answer let me know,but I'd guess they are .228 as it's primarily a Schutzen round over there and I think accuracy counts

I can't imagine a .224 bullet being accurate in a .228" bore.

Actually the Wikipedia article I mentioned has the headline "5.6x52mmR" and refers to Sellier & Bellot ammo.

I emailed S&B and this is the response I got from them as follows so if your buying this ammo this should clear things up :

Dear Sir.
Czech republic is member of the international organisation for standardisation of cartridges, shotshells and their chambers - C.I.P. Therefore we must strictly respect the regulations of this organisation. C.I.P. prescribes for the cartridge 5,6 x 52 R the maximal bullet diameter .228". Our nominal diameter of this bullets is .2263"
