Just bought a pistol from a dealer here on cgn. I called CFO to check status, I was told it was approved but for some reason it is now gone to the registrar and we have to wait until they give their '' OK'' before the dealer can ship.

I am new to this, so can anyone tell me if that is common practice or what ?

I taught once it was approved by CFO, it was a go !

Yes all restricted firearm transfers go to the CFO for the "ok". Sometimes you will also get a "review" done randomly by the CFO on a non-restricted firearm transfer as well.

I knew that restricted must all be authorized by CFO but needing a third approval by the registrar after CFC & CFO as already approved it !

I wonder if it then will have to be approved by someone else ?

1) FCF - Approved

2) CFO- Approved

3) Registrar- Pending

4) Then who ???

All this requires a lot of bureaucrats !!

A registry review usually means that there is a serial # issue. Most times it means that there is a duplicate serial # somewhere in Canada. They will contact the owner of the duplicate serial # to confirm that it is correct. It happens all the time with the older Russian firearms. Mosins, SKS's etc.
