lol 22lr was considered over kill? Gosh that’s funny hahahahaha I know of an old dude here who took down. A moose close range with a 22 short lol
A .22 short through the ear canal or eye into the brain maybe. The last time I used a .22 short was back in the mid 60's in Alberta when the family took a trip to the west coast and we stopped to visit an old army buddy of my dad. I was shooting gophers with his son out of an old single shot .22 with hardly any rifling left. The use of shorts was because long rifles were too expensive. There was not a lot of spare money on that ranch at that time. I think a lot of these old stories about shooting big game with a .22 do not tell about the ones that got away and suffered. If I hunt anything I want the shot to be clean and a quick kill or I don't take it so I use as much firepower as I can. I would rather spoil a few pounds of meat with the bullet than let the whole animal spoil.
