Is the 870 Tactical really an Express?

Good question, i wouldnt mind some clarification on this myself...
I have seen both "870 Tactical" and "870 Express Tactical"... i understand that the express models usually have much poorer fit and finish and considerably less quality control than wingmaster or police models but the difference between these two is unclear to me.
Hope someone can answer this!!

they are both express models... frankly the best deal going right now is the 870 express tactical with the threaded barrel and the breacher choke tube.... those choke tubes are selling on ebay for like $50 and then you can have a choice of what choke to use otherwise.

^right, but how overpriced is the Express Tactical to begin with? the entire gun is a clever marketing scheme by Remington to milk more money out of its bottom-of-the-line Express.
with some of the prices dealers are asking for them (dont even get me started on the $720 one with the Knoxx stock at Cabelas), you could buy a used 870P, Wingmaster or 590A1. if choke capability is important to you, this can be done for $75-100 anytime. not to mention id rather have a factory 870P barrel than a factory Express barrel thats tapped for chokes - i own both and there is a huge difference in build quality in even just the barrel.

I bought a NIB 590A1 off the EE for about the same price as one of the cheaper 870 Tactical models so that's why I asked the question. I think I got a better gun for the same money.
I still prefer the smoother action of the 870 (especially an older Wingmaster) but the 590A1 will smooth up with use and it is so easy to reload.
Now if I can find a nice older Wingmaster action for the 18.5" barrel sitting in the corner...
I am a wingmaster snob. I have 2 at the moment and am still looking for an older 20 gauge to play with. They're simple, smooth, and you can get parts and accessories anywhere so you can do as much or as little as you want. And the older ones are relatively inexpensive although the price is going up these days.
