Stupid question, but I have a Sig 226, and I was wondering, it the lower frare of the firearm the actual pistol, like an AR 15 Lower, or is the slide and barrel also considered a firearm?

Just wondering if I can take my slide and barrel to a gunsmiths to be worked on, without a ATT

Thanks

The frame with the serial number on it is the firearm. Slide and barrel can go to pistolsmith without paperwork. When in doubt check with the CFO.

No offence thor, but who the f**k taught your firearms training? This question goes out to eveyone who asks a question they should have been taught the answer to. I don't get it.

Thanks Guys!!!

Thanks for the info guys - I needed the info quick, and as usual the group came through

TDC - I stated right in the post that it was a "stupid" question. I have very extensive training, I just wanted to be accurate on the rules. There is no harm in double checking with the experts.

check your att- in most cases your att covers the whole gun for repairs and transportation to a gunsmith- you used to have to get one for repairs in the old days, but not now

My ATT only covers me going to ranges certified by CFO of Ontario. I also have 3 others, 1- As a PAL instructor
2- As a Wilderness Handgun Instructor
3- To go to a border crossing point to compete in the USA
None of them allow me to send the firearms to a gunsmith. Check yours carefully before sending the firearm anywhere.
I have sent slides, barrels and various other parts to my pistolsmith but never the frame without authorization.

Thor,
I'm not attacking you, I'm just wondering who's teaching courses lately, there seems to be a lot of legal questions about stuff that should have been taught during the course. I'm questioning the instructors, not the students. There are plenty of stupid rulings/laws with regards to firearms in this country. If the instructors aren't discussing the necessary topics then what are they teaching?? I've stated this before, and I'll state it again. The entire firearms system is a joke.

under reason, mine says other:transport to all approved ranges, licensed gunsmiths, and border crossings in alberta -

t-star -Wish that was the case with ATT in Ontario. Like I said I have 4 and I still can't send a handgun to my pistolsmith.
