How is the Elcan standing up to the abuse of combat use? I've seen some with broken lenses or water damaged interiors for sale as surplus to they obviously aren't indestructible. On the other hand, I notice that the C7 no longer has the plastic back up sight that used to be mounted ahead of the Elcan scope base so that seems to suggest fairly good durability. If I was a Canadian soldier going in to a combat zone I think that I would want a sighted back up iron sight in my pocket.
