Is the Powerpak necessary on the Knoxx Spec-Ops stock?

I just ordered a recoil reducing Spec-Ops stock for my 14" HP9-1 shotgun. TSE was out of the Powerpak. Are the Powerpaks really necessary to avoid cheek slap and to insure a proper cheek weld on longer range shots? BTW my HP9-1 is fitted with Wilson Trac-Loc ghost ring sights.

I am not recoil sensitive but won't spend the money if the Powerpak is not needed.

IMHO it is not necessary, but it does have a nice spare shell, and battery storage capacity.

Beside which isn't it only like $45?
Plane Jane side saddle often cost that much.
 
I have a Mossberg 590 with the Spec Ops stock sans Powerpak. I have a side saddle on the receiver, so the Powerpak did not interst me. The only thing to watch for is the pinching of your cheek where the stock compresses; I have just learned to keep my head back a bit more and the problem went away.
 
Now that the price is down it is worth buying for shellholder, I find the battery case just gets in the way. I don't have optic and the cheek shield is useless for me, might try to modify it so I can fit it to my SKS Tapco stock.
 
I was glad I put it on mine. Much better cheek weld for the red dot sight I had, and more comfortable shooting.

I too found the battery holder was in the way, but the shell holder is positioned nicely.
 
I have one although it isn't on the stock yet.
The shell holder is what I bought it for. The "risers" would be good if you have optics on your shotgun but with the factory sights you don't need them.
 
One point of note: when installing mine, it was stiff, and I mean damn stiff, to get on.

As in, it's never ever coming off unless you cut it off...
