I am the proud owner of an Extreme weather Winny in .30-06 and love the gun every which way from Sunday. I bought it in this caliber because it was all that was available. I really really wanted one in .308win but never did find one. I cannot find any info online as to whether it is a short action or blocked off long action. Does anyone own one in a short action chambering (.243, 308, 300wsm, etc) that can verify if it is truly a short action? These guns seem rarer than hens teeth...

Damnit......now I have to find one in .308 win. How is the accuracy of your 7-08? I have only shot mine with reloads 150gr Speer , 165gr GMX, 168gr TSX, 180gr accubonds. It shot them all into an inch or less for 5 shots. I used Reloader 22 and H4831sc powder. Minox 2-10x40 scope. Even if I find a .308 win I am still keeping this one because it shoots all hunting weight bullets from lead core to monometals excellently. First gun I have owned that accomplished it.

I haven't even shot it yet. It just came in the mail about ten days ago. I hope mines as good as yours is. Mine is made in USA, and the serial number shows the action was made in 2010. Funny the 7-08 wasn't offered in their catalogue until 2011. I've been looking for one in 308 or 7-08 for several years. Good luck in your search, and be quick on the keyboard, because I still want one in 308 too!!!!!!!!!

I've never dealt with them before. I realize they imported stuff from the U.S. but thought it was all tactical stuff. I am presuming it is in U.S. dollars, but is the stuff new or used?

Yes it's $USD. Yes it's all new items. Yes they are pretty good to deal with, I've ordered from them a few times.

Sometimes the exports take a couple months but if you can't find the item here it sure beats waiting 3 years.

I find their website a little wonky to navigate but I've gotten used to it.

I tried to check out the site a long time ago and found it almost impossible to navigate so I gave up. Thanks for the info, now I will give it a serious try.

I talked to a local store about ordering one in and they told me that BACO only lets them order once a year at the shot show and once they have the orders in they determine which calibers they will produce that year. He said that if the amount of a certain caliber, say 7-08 was very minimal, BACO wouldn't even produce rifles in that caliber that year......I don't know if this is crap but it would explain why there are very few in certain calibers???

It's not crap. A lot of companies work that way

You have to be careful with the new Winchesters.
I have a 243 Coyote that is based on the WSM action that is a but longer that the short action.
I found this out when I bought a scope mount for a short action and it was to short for the rifle.
The WSM action will allow for a 3" long OAL with the right magazine box.
My 243 has a spacer that shortens the mag to 2.850 approx.

I have a 7mm-08 supergrade that was a shot show special. Its a short action, No mag block

From what I’ve seen, the short mags don’t have a mag spacer but all the rest of the SA calibres do.
That 0.2” spacer is easily removed to get near 3” oals

With removal of the mag spacer, the blade ejector needed to be altered so that it didn’t interfere with the longer round coming up from below.
