I have have a SBE II and i'd like to shoot steel loads for geese.

What is the best aftermarket full choke that will allow me to do this without damaging the barrel.

I'd like to know who have it in stock too.

Thanks

Al's Corner Store (Online) sells the full range of Carlson tubes...including what looks to be a Crio / Crio Plus steel tube set with a .695 tube ... I wouldn't be surprised if a mod choke patterned steel better than a full though. Either way they sell the full line, have ordered from them a few times, no complaints...and I like Carlson tubes to boot.

From Carlson's site:

Benelli Crio/Crio Plus (Flush choke is 2.75" w/threads 3/4" from top)
Interchanges with Super Black Eagle 2, M-2, Vinci, Ultra Light & current Sport II, Super Sport, Cordoba, & Montefeltro

But to confirm just ask Al....he will get back to you right away.

My guess is that the full choke on your SBE II is already rated for steel.

Keep in mind - with steel and 'most' full chokes, you'll get 'overblown' patterns. Most of the time, MOD with steel will be as tight as FULL with lead. Specialty chokes are designed somewhat differently from what i understand.

Trying out a new Patternmaster choke on Monday with some steel... supposed to be able to knock em down at 60-70 yards? I have my doubts, but will report back.

Have you patterned your other chokes, such as the mod with your steel??? You may find they work fine.

Wad wizard or pattern master chokes are not constriction chokes but are wad stripper chokes. I have shot both out of several different guns and highly recommend them.

Not sure about 60-70 yards due to a couple things....lack of penetration by pellets at that range and also the ability of the shooter to centre a flying target at that range. I don't know anyone that can consistently kill out past 50 yards. In fact, I don't know any good hunters that would normally shoot at that range.

The WW or PM chokes to smash birds hard out to 50 yards....providing you can hit them.

A full choke marked for steel will not necessarily be the same constriction as a full choke marked for lead.
If it says " full - steel approved" or something like that, it will be good for steel.
Whether or not it patterns better than another choke is going to be decided on the pattern board and in the field:>)

Unless you want to use small hevishot for turkeys, the mod Benelli choke essentially is a full choke for steel. I also use a Carlson's Long Range on mine, can't tell the difference with BB or #2 from the Benelli. Tried a Kick's full, wasn't impressed. The full choke that comes with the SBE that isn't rated for steel, is a lead rated full choke. You can get into the xtrafull lead or hevishot chokes for turkeys, but, check out what people are doing with them, on the turkey forums like Old Gobbler, before you run out and buy one.
Those chokes are not for waterfowl loads.

terror choke are true constriction chokes and can run steel. Work well out of Benelli's actually. I have shot 705, 690, 675 without issue and the produce very tight patterns.
