Is there a such thing as a 14 inch 590 or 590A1 breacher/threaded barrel?

I'm trying to end up with a breacher stand off on my 14" 590A1 but thus far it's proving to be a more expensive endeavor than I care to pursue. AFAIK only the 18.5" 590 had a factory breacher variant, and a 18.5" barrel won't work with my A1 since I have the 20" SPX version with the matching length magazine tube. I can only match up 20" or 14" barrels due to magazine tube lengths. I'd prefer to go the 14" route since the gun is just that much handier of a length, but i'm having no luck searching.

Before I seriously consider the cost of sending my 14" barrel to be threaded, I figured I'd consult the hivemind of CGN for anything I may have missed.

There is a 14" 590a1 produced but I haven't seen them sold outside the U.S.
Al Flaherty's had the 14" barrel and mag tube conversion kit at one point though.

Were you looking to thread it internally for a breacher choke or externally threaded for just a breacher?

External would be ideal so I can still use it for slugs

P&D and CSC have the 14" conversion kit. If you want a breacher Casey at TacOrd can make or install one.

I already have a 14" barrel. He's the first person I turned to, but they're not taking new work in for months.

Google Carolina Shooter Supply and look at the breacher and other muzzle devices they carry for the Saiga shotgun, I know they have a bunch that fit an external barrel thread. I have one for a threaded 14” barrel for a Rem 870, honestly though if I was to go this route I would internally thread the barrel for remchokes and use their breacher choke. Iirc it’s a cyl or imp cyl breacher choke and you can swap in the whole line of remchokes if you want, you can safely shoot slugs through chokes up to a full choke.

I don’t know who can thread for the Saiga attachments, they use a metric threading. Mine came threaded before I bought it.

An internal thread with a cylinder bore choke will do slugs all day long. I've even seen people go one or two up from cylinder and still shoot lead slugs without issue.

I'll take a look- thanks!

That will work, as long as frangible/hatton rounds perform the same way.

had a 14" kit on a 500. Sold it to mike...

I also had a 18.5" breacher barrel from factory with the different mag tube. Very sturdy and looked bad ass. Was pretty jagged and pointy, stuck to small trees well and blew threw it with a cup of shot.

I definitely prefer the 14" barrel. I have wanted to get it threaded for chokes. And it being a heavy wall barrel I'm sure you could find someone to do it. But I have a good accuracy with slugs out of the cylinder bore and I don't shoot that much buckshot. It patterns pretty good. Chokes would pattern shot and buckshot better but it works for what I need it for. Maybe one day.

I think getting the barrel internally threaded would be your best option. Might be costly and have a wait time, but it's a buy once cry once type of deal. A quick google search for "stand off choke tube" brings up a hand full of open choke stand-off devices which won't harm your frangible slugs. Plus later down the road if you want to experiment with different chokes and shot you can swap the chokes out at will.

I have one from factory. I put the Blackhawk Breacher gen 3 on it with a red dot and a cheap low profile laser. I wanted an atv predator shotgun. Hard to shoot accurately even with red dot. Sling helped a bit but I was able to attach a mil spec buffer and mft minimalist retractable stock now its a light compact rig that shoot great with recoil reduction. I got a mini slug adaptor and those are the perfect combo for ultra low recoil accuracy and animal defense. We live rural and bears are a weekly thing on the property.
