So i bought a FAB Defence recoil reducing stock, but i can't forthe life of me get the original one off.

I'm was pretty sure its just a matter of unscrewing the butt plate then taking out the screw in the stock. Maybe its just really tight?

Has anyone else had the same problem? How did you end up getting it out?

Fiiiiireeee

J/k, there is a write up in the faq at the top of this section (Red Rifles). I used a large standard tip screw driver with a wrench on the shaft for torque. Could probably use vice grips as well. In the faq it also mentions an impact driver, but I would probably use that as a last resort.

Thanks:)

I'm swapping all the furniture now and was too frustrated to look it up:redface:

Will try some vise grips then watch it slowly burn once I get it off:mad:

Atleast I know I'm on the right track:D

My buddy had to buy a socket with a large screwdriver head on it to get his off. Mine, I just got it off with a large screwdriver.

It can be very difficult to get off. I bought my new stock at Wanstalls in Maple Ridge and the in-house gunsmith was good enough to install it for me. That's why I like to buy my gear their when possible as they will help you with it if you have problems.

Ya it's a major pita, get a $6 big flat screwdriver from home depot and man up and torque that thing undone. They must use a machine in the factory to screw that bastard on, it's tight

had same problem, it was like the paint glued the bolt in place.
I tried everything and only managed to damage the flat slot in the countersink bolt .
I then went out a bought an impact screwdriver, ( you hit it with a hammer and it turns the bit slightly) this worked perfectly.

Was thinking bout that but wasn't comfortable with the idea of hammering with the muzzle against the floor.

I put the crown protector on the muzzle tip and put it on a block on wood, I didn't need to hit hard just needed the impact to break it loose from the paint. worked flawlessly

If you are having problems with regular screwdrivers head to Princess Auto and buy one of the black chisels with rubber hand protectors. Grind the end down a bit to eliminate the pointed tip and it fits perfectly (also has a squared shaft you can use a wrench).

ETA: can't find the one with the hand guard, but something like this:
