Bear with me here. I'm new to not only the idea of Mil Surp ammo, but rifle ammo in general.

Is there such thing as cheap(er) .223 Remington Military Surplus ammo? What is the going rate for such a thing, assuming it exists. Is all Mil Surp ammo ball?

Thanks.

Privi Partizan M193 is whats floating around in the states. Theres also some Guat and some other crap that they have for about 330/1000 that we can't get, legally anyways.
Then theres some LC XM193 that is being sold as Federal BlackBox or Black Eagle or something of that nature. IIRC they were pull downs that did not meet mil QC.

when i first got my ar, i got a can of filipino 5.56 with - it was an odd size( 660 rounds and in cloth bandoliers on strippers) but no clip guide- opened like a sardine can- had an s-b headstamp( NOT SELLOIER& BELLOIT) 55 GRAIN FMJ'S - there seems to be a lot of the 55 grain stufff- probably older ammo from when everybody went over to the new twists-since then i've seen bandoliers of fmc. ivi.and two or three others- the fmc seems to be the least hardy , primer pockets opening up after 2 or 3 reloads- the cheap filipino seems to be one of the better, as i get at least 5 loads out of it

I think you are referring to (maybe) rem/umc 'govt surplus' 223 ?????

Sort of, I suppose.

What I'm trying to imply is that I see lot's of 1120 round cases of corrosive 7.62x39 ammo for sale. I'm wondering if there is an equivalent .223 round for sale somewhere.

Not at the same price, the 5.56 will be a fair bit more per round if you find it.

There was, is and always has been but its not as plentiful as it was and not as cheap, especially up here.
