It has a headstamp of "nny .223 Rem". The nny appear to be cyrillic letters so I suspect this is ex-yugo or other East Block. It weighs about the same as FC brass.

I have about 25 pieces of this uncrimped brass and wondered if it is worth reloading or should I just chuck it into the recycle bin.

Your thoughts please.

nny headstamp is Prvi Partizan manufacture from Yugoslavia. Should not be a problem reloading it but you might want to check the flash hole - I believe it might be a bit smaller than standard and your decapping pin may get stuck.

I've been reloading .357 and .44 NNY cases and haven't lost any decapping pins. I uniform the flash holes, and I notice that when I uniform the primer pockets the cutter doesn't cut a smoothly as does North American brass, so perhaps the case heads are a little soft.

I know, I know - why do I uniform primer pockets of my handgun ammo? Well, by uniforming the pockets there is less chance of a primer sitting high and tying up the gun, and I have both on my ATC, and the ammo has to be perfect.

As was suggested by all you good folks I deprimed the Privi brass with no problem but ran into a major problem when I went to full size it. Using my Lee die I could not get the whole case into the die. I tried about a dozen, all with the same result. The Winchester, RP and FC brass all were full sized with no problem.

In looking carefully I could see a ring of lube .300" above the head on the Privi brass while that ring was only .100" above the head on the other types of brass. I suspect this indicates that the area of the case above the head was "swollen" for lack of a better term.

I wonder if this oversizing of the brass was a result of the firearm it was shot from? All the brass in this batch were range pickups. I have scrapped all the Privi brass but am curious as to what caused enlargement. Any ideas?

I think you answered your own question. Looks like this brass was fired in an oversized chamber. You may be able to full size it with la generous amount of lube applied. Try PAM. It seems to work well but don't get too much on the case or you'll get dents on the shoulder. When that happens, clean the inside of the die and use less. Good luck.
