Found a bunch of 9mm FMJ. Plain brown cardboard box marked "64 Cartridges 9m/m Parabellum". Head stamp is: "DI 43 9mm". Is it corrosive? Any good to shoot? Where is it from?

TIA

Canadian, Defence Industries. Obviously 63 years old, was 1st class ammunition when made. Could still be quite shootable, assuming decent storage. Made for use in Sten guns, so it is on the hot side. It is my understanding that it is N/C, but have no proof of this.

It should be NC, but any surplus ammo I shoot, I assume is. I'd rather do a bit of extra cleaning the find a rusty bore next time I shoot.

I believe that all the ammo DI loaded in WW2 was NC, but others on here know more than I.

like tiriaq said, maybe a lil on the hotside.. if you're shooting it through a tupperware gun, keep an eye on the frame, may induce pre-mature wear

X 3 , very hot ammo, made for SMG's, hence the 64 rds per box, Sterling & Stens were 32 rds, as for corrosive or not, same, treat it as corrosive, and enjoy the find;)

Yesterday I chronoed some 9MM packed in brown box marked loaded to Nato Specs. 125 grain FMJ chroned out at 1274 fps. I can get there using 6 gr of Unique but this stuff is warm! Anyone have an idea from this headstamp who made it. Headstamp reads 9x19, L Y 92. The L & Y appear on either side of the base.

google says your LY ammo is Norinco mfg

Thanks guys. Aside from a couple of hard primers that required a double strike ammo was consistent across the Chrono but it sure is warm. What does it sell for in bulk I wonder?
