Is this a flash suppressor?

Make sure of what?

I've got a NEA flash suppressor and I'm quite happy with it. I can't find a better pic of it but you get the idea.;)

ya i was going to ask if that thing in the picture is a flash hider. ughh still drunk from last night.

Techically, no, it's not a flash hider. It's a flash suppressor.

A flash hider does exactly that, it hides the flash when viewed from angles other than head on. Usually a flash hider is a conical "funnel" shaped device on the muzzle like on a Jungle Carbine or early Bren Gun.

A flash suppressor disrupts the unburnt gases to eleminate or reduce muzzle flash.

Stevo is right. I would say that’s a flash suppressor and it does little for muzzle rise. It is similar to this Russian/Polish AKMN flash hider copy, which has a different thread pattern. They were commonly use on sniper rifles with Russian Starlight-type scopes. I bought one from Brick for my AKM and it works very well as a flash hider, but I still prefer the Vortex more.

I used http://translate.google.com/#cs|en| to change the Czech on http://www.sa58.cz/products/kompenzator-novohradsky/ to English, and they call it a compensator on their webpage. I wondered about ordering parts from them too, as they are the real Czech deal and have a huge selection of accessories. But I suspect they only deal with police and military units in Europe. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
