She's a sniper allright.........
It was the issue arm of "Bubbavaria" IIRC.......:D

The Bubbavarian army must have had huge supply problems, what with all the different arms that were custom built for them.;)

What Hitzy's trying to say, is "No, it's not a sniper." Ottawese can be a bit hard to understand some times.

It's a Australian built No1 MkIII*, built at Lithgow, that has been, ahem, "improved" by some "gunsmith" with a chisel and a hacksaw. Value, $50-$100.

I can't quite make it out in the pics, but what's the serial number?

Send it via private email, if you prefer.

What BadgerDog is getting at is that there is a complete list by serial numbers of all Lithgow snipers. In all probability, the rifle is a sported standard service rifle. But there is certainly no harm in checking the list. IF the rifle is on the list, then restoration would be a consideration. Send him the serial, and find out.

There is nothing that I can see that would lead me to think it was a sniper rifle but checking the serial number won't hurt. I'm interested in the R in the circle marking on the barrel knox - Rust ??

I see it's drilled and tapped for a civi scope mount

Yes the R in circle means the armorer found rust in the barrel. That is not a sniper, just another of Bubba's victims.
