Is this a poor decision?

I got some extra money and was thinking of a buying a Canuk Regulator with full stock and handle thing. Because...reasons...none of them really practical but its extra money so why not?

If there anything wrong with the regulators or should I be looking else where?

I just want a fun gun that won't break from normal use.

Keep your expectations low with Turkish shotguns and you will never be disappointed. I say go for the commander model! I'm humming and hawing over one myself for no damn good reason other than, as you said.. .reasons.

"Stock and handle thing."

You mean pistol grip? Why not just get a Commander then?

by stock and handle I mean it comes with normal stock and a bird head grip. Not really a pistol grip in my opinion.

I like the regulator because its cheaper and it would be smaller when the bird head grip only is on.

Also all the commanders have a peep sight on it which I am not interested in. to me shotguns should have a bead sight unless you do a lot of slugs.

I would not be going in with high expectations. Just want it to not break right away and cycle most of the time.

Not sure if I am sold on the commander model for reasons stated above

I really like my regulator. For the price it far exceeded my expectations. Fun to shoot, seems well built. Only down side IMO is the birds head grip seems to be a cheaper plastic and doesn't offer much for grip. I'm thinking of doing a stipple job of some sort on it. I would not hesitate to buy another Canuck shotgun.

They are like $250. Just buy it and shoot the p ss outa it. Mine is a knock off of the Weatherby. ( Sinsinati ) I was not sure how handy it would be, but now that I found I like the size of it, a 590 14" is in my future one day.

I'd honestly go for a single shot pointer brand shotgun. You'd get more practical use out of it and it seems to be of better quality. Same price range as well

For the cost its low risk. I have the regulator and it took a good couple hundred rounds to get it to start to loosen up, and thats after few thousand racking the slide in front of the TV. I've Never had a fail to fire or fail to extract. Very impressed for a $250 dollar shot gun.

I have one. Put about 100 rounds through it. Works perfectly.

Have not tried it with the little grip.

The regular plastic stock is designed in such a way that it would be easy to shorten it 1 inch, if desired.
