is this hose weight made of zinc?

I have found this hose weight that's 7.5oz and a hardness of about 8BHN (measured twice)
8 BHN can't be zinc. What is it then?

Zinc will barely show a sign

Zinc is hard as hell compared to lead...

I agree and that's why I'm so surprised.
This came from a kitchen hose installed 10years ago in a brand new building.

If it's around 8 and you can put a detectable mark in it with a thumbnail it pretty well has to be lead.
I'd use it.

Also have put them on hoses in tanks so they stay on the bottom.

zinc will have a ring to it when tapped with a steel object, lead will be dull

I melted the thing today and it poured just fine into a 1/2lbs ingot. This means to me it is close to pure lead.
I then mixed it with 2.5lbs of soft lead just in case.
