I have a P226. I'm hoping to use it for IDPA and/or IPSC (Production). I'm not crazy about the grips. I'm looking at these: https://www.hogueinc.com/sig-sauer-p226-da-sa-magrip-checkered-g10-solid-black

If I go that route, will the gun still be eligible for production? I realize the IPSC rules state: "Other prohibited modifications include those which facilitate faster reloading (e.g. flared, enlarged and/or add-on magwells, etc.)" but the Production division legal P226 TACOPS comes with those grips from factory. https://www.sigsauer.com/store/p226-tacops-full-size.html

Thoughts?

Re IDPA, I think you would be good to go in ESP, as long as the grips aren't weighted and the gun still fits in the box.

Grips may be changed provided they do not weigh more than 2.00 oz. more than the factory standard weight for that model.

I'm also curious about the IDPA division legality of the Hogue wrap grips.

Since these wrap around the front of the grip, and aren't just plates screwed to the side of the grip like a stock 1911 or CZ style grip panel, they're not SSP legal as per 8.2.1.2 (B), correct?

I have a P226 Tacops with those grips which I use to use to shoot IPSC. I don't recommend them. Because we are limited to 10 round mags you will have a hard time to insert the mag all the way in. The palm of your hand will hit the base of the grips before the mag actually locks in. I had to install base pads on all my mags which did solve the issue.

Agreed. I have a Tacops with 10 round mags and I had issues with the mags not seating properly when trying to load quickly. I ended up switching to some g-10 grips so i had a flush bottom.

Perfectly legal if they weigh less than 2oz more than factory. Those grips have been around for a very long time and I am certain they are legal for IDPA SSP & ESP divisions.

No reason to if you like the grips. I had a the grips on a 1911 and they do soften the effect of recoil somewhat. Pretty tacky as well.
