I was thinking about the 1-handed lever operating, and for kicks I started browsing this Alaskan place that specializes in lever-actions. Then I remembered that recent ruling for PGO shotguns...

And it all came together light a thunderclap -

Is this going to be non-restricted then? After all one has the option of putting a regular stock on it OR a pistol grip!

P.S. their picture to show how shootable they are ironically leave me feeling wary... if the manufacturer chooses this ...unorthodox shooting position. http://www.wildwestguns.com/Bushwacker/steveshootbush1.jpg

the main issue is importation, since they say its a handgun to be able to sell them in the US they would be handgun here too. IF they would say they are rifle then they are SBR that cannot leave the US. you need a canadian licence manifacturer to start producing them

Pharaoh2 Dlask is making tiny PGO shotguns because they got a ruling saying that a gun reduced below 660mm by changing the stock is not prohibited.

(well it's not a ruling, we've given bureaucrats so much power they can simply declare what is law or not. Luckily this time we've got a cool guy doing it! ...but it's still a bad system because the Libs could take over, replace him, and use that power against us) [/rant]

Esquif no problemo. Just triple the price of shipping. Ship part #1 a rifle receiver, which it is. Then ship part #2 a pistol grip. Then ship part #3 a short barrel assembly.

Cmon it's time all fishermen looked like Steve McQueen

its not so easy you would create a prohibited firearm since your piecing it together. it will only be leagual if its done by a manifacturer.

also you will not be able to get a short barrel rifle assembly shipped in canada legaly

It doesn't say anything about assemblt. I think you're looking for ghosts:) That's the attitude Canada's laws are meant to inspire though!

I've never gotten a rifle or receiver from the USA, I read the rules once years ago and it said you just have it in a secure non-transparent container labeled 'rifle' and take it to a verifier when you receive it. I wonder if that's right still.

Here is letter from CFC / RCMP:
Dear #########,
Thank you for your telephone call today with regard to the legal classification of the Remington 870 shotgun and the MCS system, ################################################xx ################################################xx ############. Short barreled pump action shotguns with folding stocks are controlled within the Criminal Code of Canada, and it specifically details that the firearm is reduced to a length of less than 660 mm by means of folding, telescoping or otherwise. The otherwise does not take into consideration replacement with commercially available stocks such as a pistol grip stocks. Thus it is very legal and does not change the class of a non semi automatic firearm if you put a manufactured short barrel and pistol grip on the gun.

I trust this response has met your needs, please feel free to call if I can be of any further assistance.

So...WTF is it's purpose just outta curiosity?
Ah, the need argument, so predictable in Canadian discussions:)

What we know one DOES need is gov't permission to take that revolver in the 2nd picture outdoors. And then only if you're a prospector or such. And I'm not in a mood to try and lie to them about that.

So the legitimate need one can have in the outdoors for a firearm is protection. You can't take that pistol for protection, you can take your Moisin Nagant bear defence club though. ...Or you could take a carbine that's big enough to be actual protection, but small enough to be hands-free and easy & fast to present if needed. Imagine a rifle short enough to be worn in a scabbard beside your backpack, out of the way and secure but accessible with a simple pull.

But yea I'd rather a tiny rifle than a tiny shotgun:)
