Had my die shift a bit while seating and roll crimping and have a couple of rounds like this with a slight bulge around the cannelure. They chamber no problem, just worried about excess pressure spike. Some like this are at max load for ladder testing.

What you think?

Should be fine as long as it chambers.

The caveat is that if it over crimped like that because the case is over length. If the crimp unfolds over the lip at the end of the chamber the bullet is severely pinched before it starts to move and pressure will be much higher.

Thanks for the input! The bulge was simple inexperience on my part, cases were all trimmed to length for use with Hornady FTX, so they are quite short compared to standard 45-70 cases.

I'll be sure to watch for pressure signs as usual, thanks again for reassuring a newbie!

I'd have no issue shooting them but if it's for a ladder test I wouldn't use them for that. You want everything as consistent as possible for a ladder test other than the powder charge so if some crimps are wonky and others aren't you are going to get random results.
