Hello to all,

Anyone can tell me if these were made for Winchesters?

I know for sure they are over 45 years old. The base measures 1 5/8 '' and the distance center holes is 1 1/8''.

No brands or numbers on them.

Any idea on the value?

Thanks

Those sights could be made for all sorts of rifles from many manufacturers, provided the rifle in question has a long tang that provides a mounting surface. If you want to know which rifle they were intended for so you can sell them for that specific model, just provide the screw hole spacing and let folks figure it out for themselves, but if you want to mount them on your own rifles, simply use the front hole in the tang for the forward sight base hole, then mark, drill, and tap the rear hole.

Examples of similarly styled, currently manufactured, sights and bases can be found here . . .

Thanks Boomer, that is what I'll do if I sell them. But if I ever drill and tap a pre-64 Winnie it will be only to install a brand period correct sight.

Thanks

If you have a win in question, set the sight on the tang and make sure the angle is right. With sight up it must be flat and line up. As far as price, 50-150. Depends on what it fits. I picked up 2 both for 94s, Marbles nib $35 US. ( under market value I think).

The sight pictured looks like the cheapo units from the 70's made to fit numerous black powder burners & .22's. I had one with a slightly different profile base mounted on my old Dayco crossbow. I wouldn't put such a rudimentary sight on a Winchester meself, but I reckon a few folks have. I figure $30-40 max on one of those.

Aj: Ye scooped those up at a great price.

Thanks, you did good with those Marbles!

Thanks, I know what they are now and at least I won't be screwing anyone over.

Yea very good price it turned out. Was at the Phoenix gun show. He did not know what they fit and wanted them gone. A buddy imported for me. ( not sure if needed but I thought so ) One is for the win BB, a new flat under the sight makes then useable on other mods.
