Is this PU scope and mount original?

Hi,

I am looking at buying a Chinese Type 53 carbine I found for sale and it has a PU scope and mount on it. I realize this combination is not historically accurate, but the price for the rifle with the scope and mount is quite reasonable and it would be just fine for plinking at the range. The owner is unable to tell if the scope and mount are original or repro. From the pictures, I am also unable to tell. Hopefully someone here can tell one way or another.

Thanks

Mount looks original. Scopes with the flat head turret screws are of post war origin (current repro).
There are very few Type 53s in Canada. Too bad this one got pooched by putting the scope on.

Who sold these Type 53s in Canada? I don't remember Marstar or anyone else having them.
As for this rifle(which I am selling), I got off another CGN member, so I don't know who installed the mount; I never actually got around to shoot it, it does however look kinda kool, the reason I bought it in the first place.:)

Yours here is only the second one I've personally encountered. I owned another one that I got from P&S Militaria a long time ago. More in the US but not exactly common there either.

It's certainly different!

I don't know much about PU mounts so I won't comment on that.

I also think that the scope is a repro. Compare the turret screws to this pic you will see what eos means. When you adjust the scope does the entire sight picture move, or just the reticle? In modern repros the whole sight picture moves.

I agree scope is a repro, I can't tell about the mount from the photos. Type 53 carbines were imported by Century Arms formerly of Montreal about 20 years ago.
