Is This Scope mounted correctly?

In the picture below my Simmons 3x9 is mounted to a Savage markII.
I notice the area where the rings and bases join is not perfectly square. Notice the gap where the arrow is.
Is this normal?
These are weaver bases with leupold rings.
Any suggestions?

Those look like Millet angle loc rings, not Leupold. At any rate they're certainly not likely to shift on a .22. Hate to say it but cheap rings on cheap bases equal less than precise tolerances. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.
