I ordered 1911 grip made of water buffalo bone on Ebay, it's already arrived in Canada but this is all I got from the tracking number "2011/03/22 International item arrived in Canada and will be reviewed by Customs" the Item has been siting there for almost 14 days now, I am thinking could it be illegal to bring to Canada a bone of water buffalo? I am wondering why? water buffalo is not endangered species it is a domesticated animal and got slaughtered regularly..if this is illegal, what is the protocol? are they going to contact me regarding the seizure or just forget the whole thing..

If you see a Dark van with men in Black Wearing dark sunglasses pull up in front of your place I would be very very affraid and not open the door.
Seriously though, you might want to go to the Customs Web page and look up the list of items that are banned from entry into Canada, there will be an extended list for your reading enjoyment on what is admissable into Canada.
Depending on what Country of origin 14 days for being held in customs is about average in my experience on shipping receiving items into Canada.

The reason plant and animal parts are prohibited is because of the transmission of diseases.

Brucellosis was proven to have been imported in a German sausage, for example, and has cost Canadian cattle producers many millions of dollars over the years.

I don't doubt your grips are safe - but they are animal parts. It's also possible they think they're ivory, which is on the 'protected' list.

I had a good friend who brought back about 50 pounds of Kudu biltong from South Africa. He lost it all at Customs.

I don't want to ruin your day, but I think there's a good chance you'll never see those grips. I doubt you'll get in any trouble; you'll just get a nice note saying your goods have gone into the incinerator. I'll bet dozens of people forfeit stuff every day; they couldn't possibly prosecute everybody. That's why they ask you those questions at Customs..."Have you been on any farms during your time away?"

that's sucks!....well I guest I am not going to receive it..I am trying to find a fake white mother of pearl grips for my 1911 and I could not find one, any idea where I can get one?? thanks..
