Is Weatherby a decent rifle?

well from what I seen in my friends weatherby rifles is that they shoot great feel nice the action is smooth weight is good......hand loads resulted in .8MOA groups all day...thats in a .22-250.....I just got a deal on a SS vanguard .257wby and my friend who owns the .22-250 also ordered a vanguard in .257wby I hope they shoot as well as the .22-250.

In my oppinion Weatherby is one of the few companies that doesn't seem to have one or two rotten eggs in its carton. In saying that though, I really can't come to terms with the Weatherby stock; I'm a classic stock kinda guy. I'm really contemplating a weatherby mark V ultralight in 270win.

I've discussed the problems with my Vanguard in previous threads and I think the biggest disappointment was the overall quality and workmanship was poor in comparison to an old Mk.V that was foolishly traded away years ago. If I were buying another Weatherby it would certainly be a Mk.V...

I have owned both Vanguards and MarkVs.My opinion is that the Howa made Vanguard is a great gun for the price. On the other hand,I feel that the Mark V,now made by SACO,and formerly made by other contractors,is overpriced for what is offered.I don't consider the Mark V in the same class as the Sako 85.

I own two Howa vangaurds. One in 338 win mag and one in 7mm-08, I think there great rifles never had a problem with them and they shoot great. In the near future I paln on getting another vangaurd in there back country model in 257 wby.

Sounds like a winner then, I just have to check with the shop to see if it is the Weatherby cartridge or not.
Thanks for all the advice and input.
