As title says, I'm wondering if Yugo 7.62x54R ammo stamped ППУ corrosive? It has brass casing, i guess that it's boxer primed (haven't shot it yet) and stamped ППУ 1985. And if anyone had experience with this ammo, I'd certainly like to know your opinion.

Thanks in advance.

Haven't shot that paticular stamp, but if its surpluss it almost certianly is. No big deal, just clean well with boiling water or an amonia based cleaner before you do your regular bore clean. Your feeding a bolt gun right? Just pour a kettle of boiling water down the barrel, the heat of the water will dry the barrel very quickly, then you clean and oil, simple!!

ППУ іs non-corrosive. I shot their 7 x 57 as well as the 7.62 x 54R and found the ammo to be clean and reasonably accurate. The 7x57 brass wouldn't fit into an RCBS shellholder though, as it was a bit too thick at the base. No function problems in the rifles at all - just wouldn't fit in the shellholder for re-sizing.

i have shot this ammo in 8mm and it is boxer primed and non corr. i found that is has a fair kick even in my 28 lb mg34. happy shooting

I plowed through a fair amount of Priv Partisans 54R back then, the brass cased stuff was intended for civy use, and was the same stuff Hansen sold.
It is exellent in performance, usually a little hot, quite accurate, but thier bullet construction was crap. If it is FMJ expect the jacket to shed from the core on impact with pretty much anything thicker than balsa wood...LOL
Thier SP stuff had bullets just as crappy. For blasting and plinking its a good choice.

If it is commercial packaging with English marking, it is non-corrosive. Ir it is in military boxes with Cyrillic markings it is likely corrosive.
