Ishapore 2A

Hi.
I was offered an Enfield Ishapore 2A in .308'' CAL. The asking price is 1000$. Is it really a reallistic price range ?

If not what would be a fair price knowing the gun is all matching and in good shape ?

I feel the price is quite high. It is true that only a few hundreds were imported into Canada, but on the other hand there are probably thousands of these sitting in Police Barracks all over India and one day they might show on the US & Canadian market. In the end it is your decision on how bad you need it to complete your collection.

I think that is a really good price actually! The No. 1's and No. 4's from dealers are now around that price after taxes and shipping! These are much more rare and remember there is a good supply of surplus 7.62x51 Hirtenburger ammo available right now, so you can actually get out and shoot the old girl without having to pay crazy prices for .303!!!!!!!

I'd go for it. I have an all matching 2A1 with the 12 round magazine and it is in really great shape. Love the No. 1's and their ilk!!!!!

IMHO $1000 is at the very top of the price range. However:

They are quite scarce in Canada
The ability to shoot more readily available 7.62 is a bonus
I am constantly amazed by what people are currently asking for Enfields. Prices seem to be on the up and up and beyond what I am willing to pay.....

I paid 700$ about 5 years ago for a VG one. I sold it about 3 years ago for 800$ (with a bayonet). Take from that what you will.

In our LGS there is a fairly good 1949 Long Branch selling for a tad over Can$680. And that is pretty bargainous here in UK.

You had me pretty excited for a sec, been looking for a good 1949 LB and for that price would have jumped on it.

I sold one a couple years ago for 650ish and thought I did well making a couple hundred on the deal
No way would I give a G note for one
