I was wondering if anyone out there has any information about this marking plate on the butt of a later production Ishapore No 1 Mk III*? I have had this rifle for several years and would like to find out the "who, when and where" of this plate. I found something on a website a few years back where someone had a P'14 with a plate like this and they thought it may have been from Malaysia. Any ideas?

I have owned both an Ishapore No.1 MKIII* and a P14 with similar plates. Took me years to find out they are Colonial Dutch Indonesian unit markings.

Wow. I'm afraid my Indonesian Dutch colonist history isn't what it should be. Do you have any other information about these groups, or could you point me towards some other sources?

Basically after the defeat of Japan in 45, the Netherlands tried to reclaim their former Colony. Indonesian people were not to keen on this and eventually Indonesia became an independant nation.
