im down in the US and a couple of guys down here told me my best bed would be making an account on here since its a canadian made rifle,
i've a cooey model 39 my grandfather gave me when i was about 6, first gun i was ever allowed to shoot, and got to the point where i'd go shoot in the backyard without asking XD, so the bolt and rifle were kept seperated around starting 12 years ago so i couldnt go shooting without asking, bolt ended up getting lost, never did find it, just bought one from numrich but it doesnt have an extractor, and nowhere ive looked down here has one, numrich is out of stock, so yeah.

btw, its a post 61 pre 68 rifle, its marked as winchester western canada limited, which means it was made after winchester bought cooey, but before serial's were mandatory because it doesnt have one, and shows no signs that it was "removed". (i think it was 68 when serials became mandatory, but im only 23, so what do i know)

but yeah, any help would be most appreciated, would like to get an extractor for it, and if possible a bolt thats in better condition that the one numrich sent me(serious pitting).

ps: let the american jokes begin

They're really hard to find. I spent the better part of 3 years looking for a new bolt for my old (1956) Cooey 75. I eventually just ended up buying a whole 2nd rifle (also really hard to find..), just to get the bolt for mine. The good news is that the replacement bolt works just fine. :)

(no American jokes because I'm an ex-pat living up here... :) )

fair enough lol, its just a serious pain w/o an extractor, thinking of buying a second cleaning rod with a plastic tip just for the purpose of ejecting the shells at this point, or if i get desperate i might go see if i can get a gunsmith to make me 1+a spare

Unfortunately other then the EE ( they don't like outside EE dealing ) is Western Gun Parts. I think its 35 CND for a extractor IF they will sell you one.

Cooey bolts are hard to find because everybody cannot keep them in the gun and take them out, store them elsewhere and then they get lost. Put a WTB on the EE and wait is pretty much only way your going to find a bolt ( there are 2 pages of WTB for cooey bolts ) But then there is the issue of paperwork and sending firearm parts down to the US. a Avg price of a used Cooey bolt with new extractor is about 50$ + shipping. 80$ I bought a whole new to me cooey for the bolt and ended up being a 76 model with 82 peep sights that alone sells for 50$. So sold mine and kept the other.

Why not just use a pocket knife? Put the blade in between the rim and chamber and hook out. All I did when my other cooey wouldnt eject. Or sometimes you can hook with a finger nail.

yeah, the pocket knife trick works most of the time, still a pain, like i said, the main thing i need is an extractor, the bolt i have works fine

Try Western Gun Parts they have extractors, that's I was told by another member on CGN.
Someone manufactured a quantity of them and supposedly WGP purchased the lot.
Correct me if I am wrong.

Hey looks better then cooey bolts ive seen. Best bet is talking to Western Gun Parts and tell them your American. Because might be import paperwork you need to fill out.

yep, went ahead and emailed them, like i said, at least im one step further than i was before. whatever numrich cleaned it in they didnt rinse it well, had to use a socket to keep the bolt extended and use an air hose to blow all the metal residue out of the internals, had an awful metal grinding feeling whenever the bolt was twisted. flushed it with gun oil and dried off the excess, cycles like match bolt now

Western Gun Parts does indeed have them, but they only accept CC, not 100% comfortable with that but its a reloadable debit card so it will only have on it what they say im going to need, and yes it works for international payments

PM me your address and I'll send you one for free.

Haha! I just put a new one on my model 75. Since I can always get more I figured I'd help a brother out and send it to him. Maybe I should buy a bunch and put them up on the EE for cost plus shipping.

Very well... Fact is - I've been taking this piece because it would have landed in a landfill! All I intend to do is saving it from this fate.

Considering all "good will" I ain't spend $35 on a poorly tempered small metal piece that is worth $0.35 to begin with. Oh then - she may as well be disposed as even my kid don't want to pry the shells out of it!

Edit: "Dad, do I have to use this?"
