Hi all
I was just wondering about the value of one of these. I picked one up today with no scabbard for $60, is that a good deal?

Seems reasonable to me. I've never seen one before though. Could you post some pics of the markings and such? I have a couple Israeli K98k's. One in 7.62 and one still in 8mm and would like to have the proper bayo's for them someday.

I'd say you paid a fair price. I would say the current average price for a complete one would be between 100-150 dollar depending on condition (i.e. has it been sharpened, are the scales cracked or damaged, etc)

I have seen just the scabbards only pop up on eBay every once and a while in the 40-60 dollar range.

What I'd like to know is what type of frog was correct for these bayonets? I seem to recall reading that Enfield 1907 frogs and k98/vz24 frogs were used, although I've never seen any photos to legitimize it.

The Israelis did manufacture bayonets to fit their K98 but they also used as much surplus stuff as they could get their hands on.

The distinctive SHIELD crest will be found on some rifle receivers and some bayos.

It wasn't at all uncommon for the Israeli rifles to have just about any bayonet manufactured for the K98 and its variants. As long as the bayonet is European, it would be correct.

I think, (someone with more knowledge than I please step in) the Belgians and maybe the French, built some bayonets for them after WWII which were stamped with their crest.

Wife is away with the camera, will post pics of it on the weekend. The blade is thicker and wider than a K98, it won't fit into my K98 scabbard.

These are the 2 Israeli bayonets that I have. These are the only Israeli made ones that I have ever seen. I've never come across one with a IDF crest similar to the one on the FN manufactured k98's on it.

As I stated, I have seen converted Czech vz/24, and german bayonets modified with muzzle rings and Israeli acceptance stamps on them but never one with a crest.

Here's the collection: :D

Also googled the topic and found this site:

I need one more bayonet for my Israeli conversions, but sadly other great firearms keep popping up and getting in the way for me to purchase. I have IDF slings for all of them, Finally located one wood chamber cleaning stick (only one I've ever found that a seller was willing to ship to Canada), and I now need to buy cleaning kits and bolt disassembly tools. I'm sure there's more IDF stuff that I don't know about yet that I'll find a need to purchase. The bug has definetly bit me hard when it comes to these rifles and their associated kit - Many of the post war refurbs have unimaginable stories that I only wish they could share. Especially the 1917 Danzig!

Here's the pics of my $60 Israeli Mauser bayonet...appears to have the manufacture date of 1949. Really completes my minty "Jew Mauser", all I need is the scabbard now!!
