ISSC MK22 - Advice on Ammo and FTF / FTE

Hey Guys!... looking for some advice on the ISSC MK22.
So a little back story. I recently purchased one of these, the newest version of the gun which had supposedly addressed a lot of the issues with the first release of these.
My first day at the range with the gun, I ran easily about 450 rounds of CCI Blazer (cheap stuff) through the gun and only had a single FTF, which appeared to be a bad round. Unfortunately that day used up the last of my CCI blazer.

My second day at the range, I was using the remington "golden bullet" tubs of .22.
This second day at the range I had probably about 20 FTF which would then FTE out of about 250 rounds. Now I am pretty prepared to just chalk this up to bad ammo, but a friend of mine ended up getting one of these guns as well (after seeing how well it ran the first time out). Today at the range he was experiencing tons of FTF and FTE, very similar issues to what I was seeing with my when using the remington ammo, though he was using winchester today.

What I am trying to sort out here is whether this is a gun or ammo issue??
Anyone have any thoughts or have an ammo that will reliably shoot in this thing!?

any advice would be appreciated!
thanks.

These rifles have insane issues. You fix one, it causes another. We had to remove a couple coils on each of the recoil springs because it was recoiling too fast, which was causing the FTFs. Which then caused the bolt to not return fully to the battery position. It would stop about a 64th on an inch before shy which was enough to cause a cushioning effect when the hammer would fall. It was so bad, not one round would fire, we had to push the bolt carrier forward before each shot. In the end, we had to shim the back end of the upper receiver where the bolt carrier retaining bolt is to remove some of the slack in the receiver. After all that, it runs okay now. It still fails to feed once or twice, every magazine. But at least it's better than when we received it. I wouldn't recommend these rifles to anyone. Bad part is, everyone knows about these now so no one wants to buy them if you try resell them.

use only high velocity ammo i had mine at the range today 200 round not one problem on the other hand if i use federal champion fte every other shot mine likes cci velociter mini mags stingers remington yellow jackets and winchester super x high velocity in 100 packs in red plastic cases i have put about 600 round of the ammo mentioned with only a few problems less than 10 the key is use proper ammo the gun does not like the cheap ammo

I've never had any failures with golden bullet, though I used the boxes and not the tubs (If that makes any difference) I now run either CCI HP or the Federal 525 value packs.

I had some problems with standard velocity Winchester, but running her wet seemed to make all those failures disappear.

I just give everything a light coat of oil before I head to the range and I never have any problems.

If you're looking for something that will always work though:

CCI Mini-Mag HV/HP, Stinger, Velocitor and (pretty sure but haven't confirmed) AR Tactical. All those (haven't trued AR Tac) have run flawlessly in mine. Haven't gotten a FTF in the last 700-1000 rounds, maybe two FTE from the case not making it all the way out.

Thanks for all the info guys!
It sounds like it is likely just an ammo issue, as like I said it ran like a top with the CCI stuff!
Going to give everything a lube and see what happens with some of the ammo you guys recommend.

thanks again!

@SoLDneR I will have to check the stamps, but as far as I know I am running the newest version of the gun, which comes with this upgrade kit installed.
Will check on that and look into the upgrade if necessary.

Sounds like the first place to start is trying some different varieties of ammo.

I havent had any issues with mine since I put in the parts kit ISSC sent me. I only run Federal Bulk ammo through it. I have found all my semi's have issues with the Golden Bullets from Remington.

Just don't use remington .22 ammo. Especially the Thunderbolts, they are dirtier than a 2$ whore, which is a big deal because the ISSC is hard to clean.

I would avoid winchester white box with it too.

Congratulations on your MK22.

As noted by others, ensure you are using "HV" - High Velocity .22LR ammunition. Standard velocity usually doesn't have enough pop to cycle the action properly.

I have standardized on Federal Bulk Pack 525 ammunition for all my semi-automatic .22LR.

Based on my range reports for my MK22;
Failure to Feed = 0.33%
Failure to Eject = 0.22%
Failure to Fire = 0.14%
====
Total failures = 0.69%

CCI Ammumition - (mini mag, AR) has the best feed rate, but also the highest failures to eject
Blazer - performed the same as mini-mag
Federal - has the highest failure to feed, but very rarely fails to eject. This ammunition is the most consistent between all my .22 so it's what I chose to standardize on.

My most common issue is failure to feed (Federal). I find that using a nylon brush to clean the magazines (lips and follower) at the end of your trip helps to minimize the occurrence of this. Once I got into this practice my FTF statistic has dropped off.

For what it's worth, I have an older generation rifle. My rifle performs equally well with the OEM parts, washer mod, and the ANSCHÜTZ mod. I haven't done anything special with my rifle other than strip and clean it when I received it. The firearm was full of a gritty substance when I received it.

You may want to get the HK Pushpin mod (search for more information) as it makes your MK22 tool-less for basic cleaning.

Most likely it's a ammo issue , I bought a refurbished issc mk22 and I can run cci sub sonics (1050fps) all day with out any jamming even at rapid fire. I was really impressed with this gun dispite all the bad reviews
