I was really excited about the prospect of an "accurate" semi-auto 22, so the RX22 caught my eye. Anschutz is known for being pretty accurate, I think it would be fair to say.

I've not handled the RX22, but it looks very similar to the MK22. Identical in fact, save maybe the barrel. So my question is, are these two rifles in fact one and the same, to the extent of beginning life on the same production line? And the real question if so, is the Anschutz cursed to the same problems as the MK22?

They are the same design, other than a match barrel and an adjustable trigger .. Have a look at the RX22 user manual online .. It shows the same bolts that gave the MK22 problems in the past .. So same bolts holding together sane parts ...

Anchutz have claimed since 2012 that the RX22 is assembled in Germany as opposed to China and it is Anchutz that have engineered the replacement part that has fixed the light strike problem . #

They supply the factory part to anyone who contacts them, I have and received the replacement part and it did the job. Easy install#
#
If the RX22 is assembled in Germany is not the factor , due to the complex materials used in assembling the product all that really was required was some attention to securing connections , from the get go even with the old design Anschutz in the RX22 manual were advising early buyers to loctite critical parts where ISSC did not, and prevented some problems that usually turned up after the first 500 rounds .#

I have put 1000 rounds through my MK22 since I installed the factory replacement part and have had great service from the rifle. As ISSC had begun to locktite the older style assembly as early as 04/12 and as my unit was created after that date, I was only experiencing lite strikes on Winchester ammo .. Winchester is no problem now .
..
I feel the days of the MK22 problems are over. Anchutz have a reputation to maintain that ISSC did not have in this area they seemed to drive the changes.#

I think you would be very happy with a MZk22 re accuracy and the match barrel and adjustable trigger that #the RX22 has will add even more but at an extra price ..

Rifle feels right .. Tac driver .. New part makes it easier to break down to do a deeper cleaning , #

There are some small established mods .. Like swapping out the two main screws that attach the upper and lower with AR pins .. Great mod ..

I only own and held the MK22 side of the family .. #Plan to buy several new types of screw drivers to do more complex jobs like cleaning the mags etc .. Several different types of fasteners on this rig ..also there #is one point that should be mentioned .. #MZ22 has a very complex bolt carrier group, RX22 also has it #( not seen by me ) .. The manual does not recommend untrained people service this part of the rifle and this seems to be a weak point in some eyes. This bolt group is contained in a metal framework that has screws that can be stripped if one is not experienced. There is an established set of bolts and nuts that were available for a rifle that preceded the MZ22 that are sold as a mod, I bought the set along with the AR pins. #I tinker others may not, but If I ever take the Bolt Group apart, I will be replacing the self tapping screws. #I have had about 3000 rounds through the unit and to date have not felt the need to disassemble the bolt control group .. I seem to be able to keep clean without disassembly, but I do keep a watch on the screws, but that is standard on any rifle .. For me#

Thanks for taking the time to write that, I'm reading parts of the 70-page thread on the MK22. Something about spending $800 plus (RX22 is $800 US MSRP I believe) on a rifle that is going to need some tweaking right off the bat rubs me the wrong way. Something like a Volquarsten might not have the SCAR factor, but from a mechanical standpoint it's a little easier to swallow. Your first paragraph pretty much confirms my fears.

Hello GD7,

My son has an Anschutz MSR RX22, we've put at least 3000+ rnds through the rifle over the past year. We purchased the rifle about a year and a half ago and have only experienced a handful of FTF with old and cruddy AE bulk ammo. All other ammo cycled reliably and obviously accuracy is excellent. Accuracy is so good in fact, that my Mother was hitting steel spinners 100% of the time with 2 x 22 rnd mags! She was shooting for the first time and actually enjoyed the experience immensely!

I read all the problems other's were experiencing with their respective ISSC MK22's and went ahead and purchased the Anschutz knowing that quality would be Anschutz's priority as per their reputation. I was not disappointed. Upon receiving the rifle, I inspected the upper receiver and found that in fact the part that rocor98 describes above that is behind the bolt which was depicted as being the same in the Anschutz manual as in the ISSC is in fact Not the same part. It is in fact the "newer" part. This is from the factory upon purchase in the rifle from 2012.

I would have no hesitation recommending, and have recommended to all my friends, this rifle to anyone interested.

I have a issc mk 22 it is a newer one with all the factory fixes and other than a few FTf issues with the awesome Remington bulk ( just kidding) it has been a very reliable shooter and is quite accurate. I have run Winchester m22, federal bulk, Cci mini mags and the only issues I had were with the Remingtons

What kind of accuracy can one expect from these 2 rifles at 50 meters using mid grade target ammo such as SK STD+ or similar? Thanks.
