I just did the break in process on my XCR-L 7.62X39. Before I shot it everything was tight, no looseness. However after shooting it for the first time and cleaning I notice movement between upper and lower and the upper receiver on the left side seems to be proud of the lower. (Shown in Pictures) This wasn't like that before the shooting session. I have sent the pictures and a request to wolverine but haven't heard a reply yet. Has anyone else noticed movement between upper and lower when moving the gun side to side? I can even see it moving when wiggling upper and lower. Feedback anyone?

Right side flush like normal:

Left side upper now raised out proud of the lower (wasn't like this before):

I can't see this independent movement being conducive to accuracy. As you move the gun side to side I feel a clunking as the upper is no longer snug to the lower. Rather disappointing for a $3000 firearm used once...

I can't speak to the wobble atm, but I believe the way the left side of the upper sticks out passed the lower is normal, possibly done intentionally to prevent the charging slide from catching on the lower??? Both my XCRs are like that, both bought new and one hasn't been shot yet. I looked at quite a few when I got my first one, wondering the same thing, and saw that it's very common. I'm not sure if I've seen any mate up flush. I think it is possible you may have overlooked that before the break in. But I'm no expert and could be 100% wrong.

All firearms designs with a separate receivers will have some play in it, some you can even see daylight thru the joint, there are no effect on accuracy, because your barrel is and scope are both on the upper.

I don't know about XCR-L, but my XCR-M has no wobble and very tight. No visible misalignment either.

If you look at how the system works, recoil buffer on the BCG is supposed to go into a cut in the lower receiver. May be the tolerance there is good enough for minor misalignment. If i were you, I'd check the front retaining pin for bending.

My XCR rattles like a maracas. Wasn't too severe in its first 10,000 rounds, but the last 10k have loosened it up good.
When I'm hiking, it sounds like a movie gun.

The offset, as mentioned, is by design.

Okay wasn't sure. There was no movement before shooting it, but there is now, but I thought it was flush on the left hand side but I could be wrong about that one. But if a little play is normal then I will keep shooting and see if it gets worse or stays the same. Thanks for the feedback. This was the first gun of this type I have owned.

My right side upper is raised. However there is no play horizontally compared to the tiny play vertically between upper and lower.

Any reply from wolverine? I don't recall seeing that , on a keymod, I used to have

They have sent the pics to Robinson arms and are awaiting a reply. They have said a little play is normal, but if it gets too much it is not normal. I will monitor it as I do further usage to see if the play between upper and lower gets worse.

The left side is raised slightly to allow the charging handle to be cycled without risk of it contacting the lower and damaging the finish. My xcr l and xcr m both look the same. It's the same on every xcr. Most people just don't notice. My xcr l has over 1200 rnds through it now. When it was new she was tight. Now there's a bit of play. No big deal.

You're barking up the wrong tree if you're looking for accuracy !

Actually the accuracy has been pretty good. With a low power 1.5-4.5 scope it is running 2" or a bit less at 100 yds. I could do better with higher power scope I am sure. That is with surplus ammo. Haven't tried the new production non corrosive from Canada Ammo yet.

If you look at the design and how it locks together, you would realize it's perfectly normal.
It's just a spring tension and catch in notch holding the rear of the upper down.
There's obviously a couple hundredths of an inch play between the upper and lower in the front where they meet.
Mine did it when I owned it. It doesn't affect anything at all. Non issue Sir.

There was no movement at all till I shot it for the first time. After doing the break in there was movement. So no it would not be obvious to me having never had an upper/lower design rifle set up before. Thus why I asked. Also the pictures I sent to Wolverine has them inquiring of Robinson Arms so they too are not sure if the level of movement I am experiencing is normal or not.

To put it in perspective, every swissarms rifle I've ever examined has a bit of up and down 'wiggle' between the receivers.

I just checked my keymod .223,there's no movement ,whatsoever ,between the upper and lower.
It does have a raised ridge on one side though. But it's on the left side of my gun, opposite of yours.
