I think the XCRs have a matte coating, 26" barrel in magnum calibers and a different stock - as you have already pointed out.

My XCR in .338 RUM with the 2 colour sotck doesn't have the j lock on the bolt.

I would check to see if the J-lock works. If the stock was swaped the firing pin assembly could have been aswell.

yup, it's an XCR barreled action in a synthetic BDL stock.... the finish has a yellow tinge to it much like electroless nickel...maybe it is electroless nickel...

I had a .338WM XCR in a BDL stock, 23" barrel with a recessed crown. Sold it a while back, but the bolt was fluted...I wonder if someone swapped the bolt. If so, you might want to check the headspace.

it is in fact the rifle!, someone has taken the fluted bolt and swapped it with a jlock ,so looks like stock and bolt are bdl , rest is original XCR

Better have the headspace checked like Blargon suggested.

The cgner I got it from has shot it with this bolt, even taken an elk with it. But ya I hear what you are saying, thanks

Is it just me or does that seem wrong? I mean, should that type of part replacement be disclosed?

a couple owners ago it apparently had a nice fluted bolt done at the same time as the barrel shortening, that bolt was used on something else and replaced with this one.
Not really a big deal , it shoots good, just the jlock is ugly
