Seems like there is a little issue with the rem small pistol primers I have. I am reloading 40 s&w. I am resizing and of course unpriming the brass. Seems like maybe 1 in every 30 the primer will actually separate, the anvil and the area where the primer strikes will come out but the cup will stay in the primer pocket. The loads are actually quite mild 6.5g long shot. There is also no pressure signs on any of the primers after firing.
Anyone every see anything like this? I have used win and CCI small pistol primers in the past and have done thousands of rounds and never seen this happen.

Well, other than the fact that it says on the package not to use'em in '40s, I don't know what to tell you... Are you saying a ring of metal stays attached to the sides of the primer pockets?

6.5 g of long shot is listed to be 25,000 psi with 180g xtp in 40 s&w
All but one load in the Hodgdon manual list starting loads in 9mm with more pressure than that, so really should it be an issue with light loads?

how they will perform on 9mm?
Truth be told, I probably used a couple of thousand 1½ before finding out they weren't recommended for use in higher-pressure cartridges, so who knows if I ever used'em in my .40S&W, .357Sig or other? Never had the problem described by Ishodu.

I only found out a few days ago, on these boards. A member (forget who) actually contacted Remington and was told they weren't recommended in .40S&W because of the "pressure spikes" that cartridge is known for...

Whatever the case may be, it isn't a glowing endorsement of their primers. I still have a brick of 1½, I guess I'll keep'em for .38s, SP'd .45s and such...
