Good evening all, I was hoping some of the more knowledgeable folk on here might be able to give me a hand with some issues I'm having with my Revolution Arms R4, which seems to be pretty decently accurate Benelli M4 clone.

My issue is that it fairly regularly lets two shells out of the magazine into the body of the shotgun, which jams the bolt into the rearward position. I'd say it does this at least once per magazine, but usually ever two or three times. The only solution I have to remedy this is to force the second offending shell back into the magazine and hope it doesn't do it again, which it very often does. It does this sometimes on initially racking the action, but also seemingly anywhere in the magazine. It also did this with snap caps and weighted dummy shells. The issue first started appearing around sixty to seventy shells into the first range trip. I am using Score Super Rapid #7.5 and #8 shotgun shells, 2 3/4". On a subsequent range trip it also developed a habit of just ejecting three or four shells onto the ground from the magazine while I was firing, which was neat. My thought is that it's the shell stop in the receiver, but while it looks good and seems to function well I haven't pulled it and the bolt release apart to take a better look at it. I am reluctant to do so because I don't want to unnecessarily mar the finish or make it worse, plus it looks like a roll pin with a spring involved and I hate roll pins, but even more so when there is a spring involved. This issue happened on the shotgun stock as I received it, and persisted after I upgraded the follower to a GG&G follower and the lifter to the Taran Tactical extended lifter (I got bit consistently with Benelli thumb on my reloads, up to and including a nice little cut on my thumb, more blood for the blood god I guess).

I am looking for any thoughts or suggestions as to what the issue is before bringing it to a gun smith to get it sorted out by a professional. Best case scenario is that it is user error and I can sort myself out and it will sort my shotgun out.

Full disclosure: I have contacted the company I bought from and initially received very thin and unhelpful responses, or no responses at all. After about six weeks of this I sent a very uncouth and impolite email and finally got a response, but I was told that if I paid to have it shipped back to them then they would fix/replace it. I found this unacceptable and demanded a shipping label to be sent, as I don't believe it's fair for me to pay an extra $50 for a product that didn't work out of the box. I have not received a response since asking for a shipping label, either time I asked. And yes, I am petty enough that I would pay more for a gunsmith to fix it than to ship it back. The hills I choose to die on are rarely tactical.

*The solution was contacting the company I bought the shotgun from and they sent me a replacement part. In my case, it was a an issue with the bolt release (which also functions as the shell stop) being out of spec, allowing shells to eject freely. I replaced this in my basement with a punch and hammer.*

Cheers,
Dave

Why would you delete it when you found the solution? Do you understand the info can help other people in the future with the same or similar issues? Completely selfish to hide knowledge from people

Any and all help would be appreciated Gents.

Cheers,

What was the solution you found, I had this issue a couple times with the R4 I recently received.

Haha, rog man. I'll definitely take advice from yourself.

Here is the solution I found, to those who wanted it:

*The solution was contacting the company I bought the shotgun from and they sent me a replacement part. In my case, it was a an issue with the bolt release (which also functions as the shell stop) being out of spec, allowing shells to eject freely. I replied this on the other thread stating the same issue.

I have had this problem from mine and one of my other friend's. It turns out its the brass on the specific shells from some brands of ammo. The ones that have star and 12 stamped around the based have a rounded lip on the primer side versus some of the other brands which generally have flat shelf on the lip without the rounded corner. I surmised the rounded corner can slip out past the shell stop so I took ours apart. Bent the shell stop just a smidge. Have not tested it at the range yet but on regular cycling it doesn't appear to prematurely eject a shell into the elevator anymore. Hope this helps.
